I had a new interview with a professor named Angela Davis. She teaches the history of consciousness in Santa Cruz California.
Angela is an elegant woman, dresses well, not too flashy with jewelry. She looks very modest. Her personality seems a bit mellow, she does not speak with volume, however, does occasionally speak with her hands.
She spoke about race and the concept of racism. She seemed very articulate and knowledgeable. She did not have an animated attitude toward her position on race, she was actually very calm during her speech. She addressed how the black community turned racist acts into victories which calls for a different outlook on the community. She believes that the term race and the ideology of it is static. In order to overcome the cycle of violence toward the black community over generations, she believes its imperative to "transform the rigid notion of race."
She spoke well thought out ideas and seems to be passionate and proactive about her movement. She is entitled to her race and defends her people but is no longer interested in the old ways of coalition, she is interested in the connection of all people. She sees this time as an exciting one because she feels as if society is on the brink of change.
I'm excited to portray Angela Davis. It will be a challenge to replicate her pronunciations, she is well spoken and easy to understand. Her feminine manner is extremely intriguing, just by the way she stands I can tell she is confident in her own skin and recognizes her talent. I hope you enjoy her character as much as I enjoyed speaking with her.
